No, because you said it tastes moldy, and smells like feet. While I admit some beers smell nasty (Yes you, gueuze,) I've thankfully never found one that smells like my feet.

Haha, they would have to PAY ME 150 bucks to play any of the kinect games they have revealed so far!!
And I'm not even sure about that....how do you put a price on your dignity?

Wow... wouldn't that be awesome!? And hopefully free! I need a GPS like once a year in my car, so I would not want to buy a separate device or an app. A cheap or free solution would rock!
And since you take your phone with you when you leave your car, you don't have to worry about anyone breaking into your car to steal your GPS... :D

when can i/we get rid of microsoft office on/off our macs?
i cannot understand that apple is unable to tweak iWork to replace the microsoft ****
EISH!!!!!!!!!!
 x100
Apple can "tweak" iWork all they want, some people still want 100% compatibility for Office documents and the best way to achieve it is through Office for Mac. For good or bad that program is a standard across many corporations. Majority of people use Windows. Ain't no iWork for Windows.

It appears many should unplug all their firewire devices before applying this update.
Maybe not. I had an external firewire hard drive plugged in when I did the update. I also had a f/w hub with 2 other f/w hard drives plugged into that. However, the only thing that was powered on during the update was the hub itself. So maybe it's ok to have the drives plugged in, just don't have them running. But then again, that's just a guess...
Good luck to those who are having problems.

If Apple is actually planning to roll out a cloudified iTunes and/or MobileMe, then maybe the late-May "no vacation" policy at the Apple Stores is for training their sales staff on the new features. Or maybe not. Who knows?

The product is undoubtedly real, but announcing it in December, or even at MWSF in January, would be the height of stupidity. They'd miss the Christmas buying season and piss off both the buyers and recipients of new iPods. That's probably 20 million people in the US alone who would be angry with Apple.
The fancy new video iPod should be announced, and begin shipping in volume, in April. That gives plenty of time for Christmas bills to be paid, the novelty of Christmas presents to wear off, and at least 8 weeks in all states before the public schools shut down for summer.

SD, I've stuck with Leopard because I use a Duel Adapter to download Panasonic P2 cards via express card slot. An upgrade to Snow Leopard would break this functionality and I'd have to use the camera via FW or USB to download. That would be quite an inefficient use of precious shoot time on set.
I've considered a dual Leopard/SL boot set-up but haven't gotten around to trying it. I did try the Duel Adapter under a Windows/Boot Camp scenario but it didn't work. I'd love to upgrade, but at this point, it's more trouble than it's worth for me.
If anyone has an old 15" Powerbook they want to donate to the cause, I'd upgrade my 5,1 to SL w/ 8gb ram in a heartbeat!
Thanks,
DH
Even odder, IMO, why would someone stick with Leopard on any Intel Mac is beyond me. Upgrade to Snow Leopard already! It's stable and generally uses *less* resources than Leopard on the same hardware. I loathe using my Leopard based machines at this point.

What has me curious is why the area where the calendar names appear is blurred. Seeing the "flippy triangle" makes me think that iCal will support calendar groups. Some uses for groups that I can see are:
1 - Eliminate clutter by only showing the calendars in that group when it is selected.
2 - they can be used as a source of calendars. For instance, you might create a group called "Work" with the source being an exchange server so anyone's calendar that you have rights to see will appear under the group.
3 - Improve backups, syncing, or sharing.

Nope, your device is no longer supported by apple.
That's not a good argument. You forget that this is not a feature. It's a matter of privacy and how iOS uses your data.
So, to me, Apple must give a fix to 3G users too. They can send iPhone 3G users a 4.2.2 for example.

I want it in late June, early July at the most. This Autumn rumor is really peeing me off. Think I may even queue up for this one. Actually I won't. There'll be local press at the Apple Store and the last thing I need is to be caught on film standing in line like a total douche with a bunch of other douches!

I'm becoming sure that however many Macs Apple sells, that market share figure will never climb above the magic 5% limit.
Does saying that make me one of those Mac Zealots I keep hearing about?
No, I kind of agree.
I think the increase in sales is because of the new MacBook... it is just right for everybody!

Let me tell you...
I currently have an iPod 5.5, (because I had it replaced and they gave me the newer one) playing videos isn't as great as it sounds. I can only get about 1:45 minutes of video playing time. I use my iPod while riding the train to work everyday, and I can only view half of a two hour movie, because I don't want my battery to die before I get to work.
I think this is the main concern of Apple delaying the launch of this new iPod Video. They need to have figured out a way for the battery life to last at least 4 to 6 hours...:(
True, but the 80gig iPod has something like 8 hours of video playback..maybe it's 6.

This would be a much better option if far too many developers didn't default to setting the 'required OS' for their new apps to whatever the most recent update was regardless of whether they need the features or not. It starts getting annoying a few weeks after an update when you can't install apps because you're not running the newest firmware...
Newer updates contain newer features (that the Apps might require to run) as well as essential security fixes. Running an older iOS version (as with any OS) is simply ill advised.

If Apple thought this product was actually a big leap, they wouldn't have to announce it in front of a group of fans. I would have like to see them demo the software at the editors guild or have some editors who have used it.
Im sure it will be a great consumer product, but so far there is nothing to say that it is revolutionary or that it's even a good choice for content creation.
What does it feel like to be a complete and utter idiot? I just wanna know because I find the mindset of people like you fascinating.

Didn't they do something like this with the eMac when it first came out? It took them a while to release that eventually to the public. My guess is what happened is that they relized that there was a lot of demand for these amongst students and teachers and got worried that they wouldn't have enough to supply the schools.
That was my first thought too. Maybe they got enough response from non-schools that they are worried the supply wouldn't hold up to get the schools stocked before the new school year.
Just like the eMac originally being this way, I think once school is in full swing and Apple is caught up, we'll see these offered to teachers and higher edu students.
